Letter of Recommendation – For Maria Camille

I take great pleasure in writing this Letter of Recommendation for Maria Camille.  I have known Maria primarily through our combined efforts competing in National, International and World Parachuting Championships.

Being competitive in national and international parachuting requires great courage, tremendous discipline and total dedication with training and jumps being conducted 365 days a year.  In all aspects necessary for this demanding sport, Maria placed herself on a relentless training drive that won her the titles of National and World Parachuting Champion.  Maria honed her skills to an edge that could be equaled by few men and women in the world that I have known in my eighteen years of experience.

I have observed Maria professionally as well as in sports.  Maria is one of the most outstanding people that I have ever known.  She possesses the capacity to acquire knowledge and grasp new concepts better than anyone I know. She is both charming and personable while at the same time encourages candor and frankness.  Her loyalty and integrity are unquestionable and she has moral courage in abundance.  Maria is at her best when challenged.  She is very innovative and usually excels where others fail, particularly in situations where no rules or guidelines have been written.  Maria is unequivocally dependable and can be expected to get high marks, especially during periods of high mental and physical stress.  Maria works outstanding as a team member, but her strongest trait is being able to work as an individual.   As attested by her outstanding performance in parachuting, Maria is a person with unmatched determination coupled with the unique ability to accomplish almost any task with limited guidance or supervision. Maria is that rare person who does all things well.  I would strongly recommend her FIRST for almost any assignment or position.

Anahatha Lara Sackey- After our Utah whirlwind just practicing Bagua Flow and also meshing what we’ve learned with my already established work in yoga-dance, i find myself as grounded as I am flying which is revolutionary and unprecedented for me. THANK YOU THANK YOU for guiding me to access this incredible doorway to freedom and energetic strength. WOW.  From this discovery, these thoughts and discoveries come to mind:

“In one week of Bagua Flow training with Maria and the rest of my fellow amazing trainees, I was able to find ground for my often frenetic energy, find a calm, focused place in me (coined “Standing in the Heart of Trees), and contain and economize my energy.

Before Bagua, though well versed in my arts of ecstatic dance-yoga, which celebrates freedom of  motion and individual creativity within the body, I had stopped paying mind in my work and personal practice to form… I thought I was a “cool yoga rebel” who fused many different traditions and thus threw the old tired rules out the window. But truthfully, by denying the importance and wisdom of basic form what started to happen was that my energy was all over the place… I would catharsis at 800 MPH taking any and/or all possible roads to Nirvana and then crash by the time I got there. It was an exhausting holding pattern that permeated into my off-mat life and added unnecessary stresses rather than more freedom to it.

Now, after having landed with Maria Camille and Dhargya during our week of learning the basic forms which are about the body re-aligning itself into the shapes where our Qi flows freely, I have a renewed respect, fascination, and love for the power and healing that comes from adherence to really trying to bring the body into proper form. The skeleton is the way it is because it is created to be a crystalline conduit for energy motion, balance, and healing power along which our breath rides carrying Qi. This gives the creativity potential we all have an awesome natural container so that the healing power stays within our reserves which allows for our Qi to be accessed when we wish. Bagua has deepened my life in so many ways: meditatively, artistically, and also in my relationships with others and myself.   It is within the structure I learned in Bagua Flow where I find the road to freedom.”
