FAQ

Teacher Trainings:

How would you describe BaGua Flow?

BaGua Flow is an exceptionally beautiful “internal” martial art form emphasizing flowing movements along with the use of bamboo bo staffs and Chinese fans.  It calms the spirit, sooths the mind, and invigorates the body. It emphasizes the alchemy of martial arts power providing flexibility, grace, and power. Yet unlike classic marital arts, we do not teach sparring. BaGua Flow is a practice that Yoga studios and resort properties desire as it’s new and one of the most beautifully delivered programs based on the in-depth wellness principles of Asian internal martial arts alchemy.

Where did this exercise originate and why?

BaGua Flow’s foundation rests partly on Taoist circle walking meditation.  400 years ago, internal martial arts masters began combining the best of the internal arts within the circle walking for the purpose of improving the student’s connection to inner strength and mental balance. The goal is to “seek stillness within movement.”

Maria Camille, BaGua Flow’s founder, was trained in the internal mind/body arts and as a result won four gold medals in one of the most extreme sports in the world.  Her love for the internal martial arts training over many years birthed BaGua Flow.

Can any fitness level take the BaGua Flow certification class?

Anyone who has an open mind to learn a new practice can take the BaGua Flow Teacher Training class.  Potential trainers need to be highly accomplished in working with guests and follow our protocol to keep the BaGua Flow exercise consistent.

Can Trainers change the BaGua Flow classes after they have taken the training and certification?

No. We are building a significant brand and marketing BaGua Flow with specific protocols, therefore, we must keep the training specific to what is taught during the certification class.  We will, however, be training for three types of classes for the Level 1 Certification.  These three options are designed to accommodate different requirements such as space availability and whether the program is given indoors or outdoors.

What are the three types of classes that can be taught after taking the Level 1 Certification?

You will be able to provide the internal martial arts “flow class” that can be taught within Yoga or Fitness studios.  You will also learn the basic bo staff class that is usually given outdoors unless the studio space is large enough to accommodate six foot long bo staffs.  The third part of the training is a beautiful walking meditation class utilizing the BaGua walking path layout wherein guests also use the bamboo bo staffs.  This class was designed especially for resort properties and is provided in an outdoor area.  In the advanced classes, you will learn the BaGua Fan  - a complex routine using Chinese Fans, circle walking and sophisticated foot work.

When is the Chinese Fan training given?

The Chinese Fans are used in the advanced training.  This is a separate class that can be taken after you have learned the basic BaGua Flow class and bo staff instruction.

What are the possibilities of making a full-time living teaching BaGua Flow?

BaGua Flow delivers an excellent future for those wanting to teach full time as well as part time.  As Yoga teachers and classes are becoming extremely saturated as more and more certifications are given worldwide, BaGua Flow is fast becoming a popular new  form based on martial arts alchemy which provides a completely new avenue of teaching and income potentials.

Studios are looking to add different practices to pull in new students.  As there is an over abundance of Yoga certified teachers, it has become a challenge to grow classes and make a living teaching as prices of classes keep dropping.  BaGua Flow is the perfect new practice that adds extreme depth and levels of difficulty wherein there is longevity with new students returning time and again.  BaGua Flow provides the ability for teachers to differentiate themselves, grow larger classes and make substantially more income.  Concurrently, resort properties desire new wellness practices for their menu.  The BaGua Flow walking meditation with the use of the Bo Staffs provides a beautiful new addition for the resort menu of activities and spa related journey’s.  This opens a new avenue for BaGua teachers and income potentials.

How is the BaGua Training taught and where?

The BaGua Flow training is taught – in-person with the founder, Maria Camille.  The intensive training covers a two-week period – on location, plus considerable additional time through studying the training manual and phone coaching sessions.   Teacher certification classes will be scheduled worldwide.  We will announce these trainings on our website when new classes form.

How can I set up a BaGua Flow certification training in my city?

We welcome working with new trainers worldwide who would like to host a BaGua Flow Certification Training.  When you facilitate a training workshop, we will work with you to receive your own training at a discount or with commissions when filling a training class.  We are looking to train trainers that will proceed to teach certification classes and carry on the BaGua Flow trainings worldwide.
